Overview

CDSkin is a program designed to play CD tracks on your computer's CD-ROM or DVD device.

It contains some sophisticated DSP (digital signal processing) effects that operate in real time during playback.

The program also supports a variety of different software sound drivers, such as Direct Sound, Windows Multimedia WaveOut, and A3D drivers.

In addition, it makes optimum use of hardware mixing, if your computer supports this.

CDSkin also supports a variety of different "skins", used to create an interesting user interface.

There is also a real-time spectrum display of the music being played.

You can also play files seriatim, in random order, or in a continuous loop.

In short, the CDSkin CD Player is about the most powerful and flexible CD Player that one could hope for.

System Requirements

CDSkin is a 32-bit program that is currently programmed for PCs running on any 32-bit version of Microsoft Windows, although many of the features are platform-independent. (Mac and Linux versions are under development, and should be ready soon.) You will need the following:

386SX or higher (Pentium 4 recommended), 16 MB RAM (256 MB or more recommended)

Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/Xp, or later

Hard disk with 500 MB of free space (1,000 MB or more recommended)

Windows-compatible soundcard
